The Blues welcome the Pirates to Cumbria this weekend hoping to improve on a poor record that has seen them win only six of 14 games against Rovers at Brunton Park, the visitors themselves having also been victorious six times.
Last season in League One the two sides fought a rare draw over the years at Brunton Park. The match, played in mid-September in front of 6,106 spectators, saw Steve Elliott give the Gas the lead in the 14th minute before Danny Graham's equaliser 20 minutes from time ensured that the game finished 1-1.
In October 2005 the visitors got their best victory at Carlisle as they ran out 3-1 winners in a League Two match. Debutant Alan O'Brien opened the scoring for United in the seventh minute, as 5,317 fans looked on, but Rovers fought back in the second-half to notch three goals and win 3-1.
The Blues helping them out though with own goals from Danny Livesey on 57 and Zigor Aranalde after 82 before Junior Agogo made sure of all three points for the Pirates with a last minute strike. That win, along with a 2-0 success in the 2003-04 season is Rovers's biggest margin of victory at Brunton Park.
For United's best triumph at home to the Gas you have to go way back to the 1962-63 Division Three Campaign when the Blues triumphed 4-0. The goals that day coming from Joe Livingstone, Hugh McIlmoyle, Barry Brayton and Les Dagger in front of 5,354 spectators.

Carlisle have managed to pick up just two wins from their last six home games, losing three and drawing the other one, a generous nine goals have been both scored and conceded in this period.
The Pirates have had a decent run of form away from the Memorial Stadium recently, coming away with three points on three occasions, but drawing one and losing two. The Gas have a narrow positive goal difference over these games, with seven goals for and only five against.
Carlisle currently find themselves struggling down in 17th position in the league having picked up just 36 points from their 32 matches played so far. Bristol Rovers meanwhile are just below half-way in the League One table, in 14th, showing a record of 42 points from their 31 games contested to date.
