History of the Bury v Carlisle United fixture
Carlisle pack their bags to visit Bury at Gigg Lane on Tuesday evening, hoping to improve on a pretty good previous return from this fixture away to Bury. Of the 17 games played between the two sides, the Cumbrians have recorded six wins and five draws, while Bury have only notched up six victories. Last season in League One, in mid-August 2011, the Blues winning 2-0 thanks to goals from James Berrett in the 68th minute and then Liam Noble in stoppage time as 3,640 fans looked on.

The Carlisle goals, on Boxing Day, in only United's third win of the season being netted after the Blues had gone 1-0 behind on the half-hour mark through Chris Porter for the Shakers.
Carlisle came roaring back though, in front of 3,345 fans, with Kevin Gray (41), Brendan McGill (57) and Kevin Henderson (69) guiding the Cumbrians to a rare win in that first half of the season. As for Bury, their best victory over Carlisle is easily a 6-0 win in late February 1993 at fourth tier level, the Shakers scoring all their goals in a horrendous first-half for United as 2,723 spectators looked on, former Blue Ian Stevens netting twice for Bury that Saturday afternoon.
