The Cumbrians pack their bags to visit West Yorkshire tomorrow, looking to improve on a record of just one win out of 16 games at Leeds Road or the Galpharm Stadium. Seven of the matches have ended all-square while the Terriers have taken the honours eight times at a success rate of exactly 50%.
The previous match played between the two in Huddersfield was just less than three years ago in late October 2003, Town carving out a narrow 2-1 victory in a Division Three (fourth tier) match. Andy Booth and Jon Stead giving the home side a 2-0 half-time lead before both teams were reduced to ten men when a fracas in the tunnel at the break brought two red cards, one for United's Richie Foran and one for the Terriers' Steve Yates. The Blues managed to pull a goal back in the second period through Darren Kelly on 74 minutes but it was too little too late in front of 9,059 spectators at the Galpharm.
Carlisle gained slight revenge ten days later when they defeated the Terriers 2-0 at Brunton Park in an LDV Vans tie, Steven Schumacher and Brian Wake netting the goals in the first fifteen minutes with only 1,346 people looking on. The Cumbrians would also win the return league game at home, this time 1-0 courtesy of a 72nd minute Peter Duffield debut goal in front of 4,782 spectators, the three points were in vain though as United were relegated to the Conference at the end of the season.
The only time the Blues have come away from Huddersfield with a win was in the 1972-73 FA Cup, United never having won there in the league. A first-half own goal by the Terriers settling a third round replay after the two teams had earlier drawn 2-2 at Brunton Park. Carlisle making it to the last sixteen that season before they lost out 2-1 at home at Arsenal in front of a bumper attendance of 24,000.

Recent respective form guides
Huddersfield have only collected one win and three draws from their last six home games played, that victory coming six home matches ago against Bristol City 2-1, although they did win the game before that as well, 3-0 versus Rotherham. The Terriers' have scored seven goals in those six games but have conceded an alarming nine.
The away form of Carlisle is pretty dire at the moment, attaining just three draws from the previous six away matches. The Cumbrians have conceded nine goals in these games - although five of them did come at Crewe, more worringly though they have only scored three goals themselves.
Huddersfield see themselves just below half way in League One, in 13th, showing a record of 17 points from their 13 games played so far, a one goal win tomorrow would see them leapfrog the Blues in the table though.
United are just those three points ahead of Town having lost their last two matches and lie just outside the play-off positions in the table, in eighth, picking up 20 points from their 13 games played so far.

FootyMad's prediction ...
United are in a sorry state of late on their travels, though the Mad panel can see them coming away from Galpharm Stadium with a well-deserved point. No-score draw
