Carlisle welcome Leeds tomorrow needing to improve on a poor record between the sides at Brunton Park. The visitors have won four of the eight previous games, with the Cumbrians winning just two.
Last season in League One Carlisle defeated Leeds 3-1 at home during the regular campaign in front of 16,668 spectators. The infamous Jermaine Beckford opened the scoring for the visitors in the 27th minute before second-half goals from Simon Hackney, Joe Garner and Marc Bridge-Wilkinson sealed all three points for the Blues.
In the end-of-season promotion play-offs Leeds got their revenge though when they turned around a 2-1 deficit from the first leg to win 2-0 at Brunton Park and thus progress to Wembley 3-2 on aggregate. Jonny Howson scoring both goals for the visitors that day in the 10th minute and then in injury time as 12,873 spectators looked on.
Bar last season, Carlisle's only other win in eight attempts at home to the Elland Road club occured in the old Division Two season of 1983-84. Malcolm Poskett scoring the only goal of the game in the second-half to guide the Blues to a 1-0 win in front of 6,845 spectators.
Leeds saw the best win of their four at Brunton Park come in the third round of the FA Cup way back in the 1949-50 season, the Whites triumphing 5-2 as a bumper crowd of 22,832 fans looked on. John Lindsay and George Dick grabbing the two goals for the Cumbrians that day.
