History of the Leeds United v Carlisle United fixture

The Cumbrians face a trip to West Yorkshire tomorrow afternoon hoping to improve on a record of one win, two draws and four defeats in their seven matches played at Elland Road over the years.

Last season in League One Carlisle lost the regular fixture at Elland Road 3-2, but won 2-1 in the first leg of the play-off semi-finals. Scott Dobie gave the Blues the lead in the first-half in the normal season game, but four goals in 19 minutes early after the interval gave Leeds all three points in front of 28,530 spectators. Dougie Freedman (2) and Jonny Howson scoring for the home side while Danny Graham netted for Carlisle.

In the play-off game the Cumbrians took a 2-0 goal lead after 50 minutes thanks to strikes from Graham again and Marc Bridge-Wilkinson. Leeds though grabbed a vital late goal five minutes 30 seconds into injury time when Dougie Freedman scored, the extra play on top of the allotted four minutes coming after home substitute Andy Hughes seemed to stamp on the head of Carlisle's Evan Horwood.
