United welcome the East Londoners to Cumbria tomorrow, with high hopes of improving on their excellent record against the opposition, having chalked up an impressive 14 wins out of 19 previous matches on home turf.
The last time the two sides met at Brunton Park was just last season in League One, with Carlisle running out comfortable 3-1 winners in front of 7,160 spectators. A Kevin Gall brace and a single strike from Karl Hawley seeing United race into a 3-0 goal lead after 59 minutes, with Lee Steele netting with what only turned out to be a consolation goal for the visitors nine minutes later.
Visiting manager Martin Ling's first game as O's boss was the 1-0 home win over United in late September 2003, in one of a wretched run of 12 league defeats on the bounce for a Conference-bound Carlisle side. Jabo Ibehre once more scoring against the Blues in the 66th minute to take all three points back down to London. Incidentally all Orient's four victories at Brunton Park have all been by a narrow one goal margin.
All Cumbrians will prefer to remember the 6-1 hammering of Orient way back in January 2002 though, a day when United were 4-0 up after just 17 minutes and 5-0 to the good at half-time, veteran striker Ian Stevens bagging a hat-trick - with Steve Soley, Richie Foran and Brendan McGill the other goalscorers, in front of a paltry crowd in the darkest Michael Knighton days of just 2,955 spectators at an echoey Brunton Park.

Recent respective form guides
Carlisle have lost just once in their last six home games, winning four and drawing the other one, the one defeat coming against Stockport in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy. A healthy total of 13 goals have been scored by the Cumbrians in those games with seven conceded.
Orient have an average recent record on the road lately after winning six of their first seven matches away from home. The O's have drifted off that form in their last six games outside London though, collecting one win, three draws and two defeats. While Orient have netted an impressive nine goals in those matches a bumper 12 have hit the back of the wrong net.
The two teams couldn't be much closer to each other in the current League One table, the O's in second on 34 points, while Carlisle sit fourth just one point behind, albeit with a tough game in hand against Nottingham Forest.
