The Blues prepare to welcome the Cobblers to Cumbria on Saturday afternoon, looking to keep their slender margin of home victories over the visitors going. The Cumbrians having won eight of the fifteen games played, while Northampton have won an impressive six, and one has ended in a 1-1 draw.
With both sides promoted from League Two last season, the previous match at Brunton Park between the clubs was just over one year ago in late August 2005. Northampton going away with all three points courtesy of a 37th minute strike by Australian Pedj Bojic in front of 5,730 spectators, the match having been nip and tuck throughout with clearcut chances few and far between. United would gain their revenge in early March 2006 though when they hammered the Cobblers 3-0 at Sixfields, a win that all but set Carlisle on the road to the League Two title. The last time United beat Town at home was in the 1996-97 promotion season, the Blues winning 2-1 following a brace by Paul Conway, a late Christian Lee goal for the Cobblers making it a nervy finish for the majority of the 5,271 fans in attendance.

Recent respective form guides
United have lost just once in their last six home games, winning four and drawing the other one, the one defeat coming against Torquay 2-1. A total of ten goals have been scored by the Cumbrians in those games, with five conceded.
Town have had an excellent run of form away from home recently, with three victories, two draws and just one defeat from the last six. The games have constituted a decent return of eleven goals for the Cobblers, and eight goals against, and come in complete contrast to their form at Sixfields where they have lost all three games so far this season.
United's total of eleven points from their six games sees them sitting in fifth in the League One table, a great start to the campaign which currently sees them sitting in the promotion play-off spots.
Northampton find themselves struggling down in 16th position in the table, two points above the drop-zone, at this early stage of the season, having picked up seven points from their six matches.

FootyMad's prediction ...
United may be coming up against a decent side in Northampton, but I do believe that it's going to result in a narrow home win for the Cumbrians. Home Win
