The Blues prepare to welcome Oldham to Cumbria tomorrow, looking to continue an impressive record. United being clearly on top historically having won 20 and lost only three of the 31 games played at Brunton Park.
Last season in League One Carlisle defeated the Latics 1-0 at Brunton Park, the only goal of the game, in front of 7,777 spectators, being scored by Danny Graham from the penalty spot in the 42nd minute following a John Thompson foul on Joe Garner.
United have beaten the Latics by a three-goal margin at Brunton Park five times, the most recent of those victories though was well over 40 years ago in the 1960-61 season, a campaign served in the old Division Four. The game came on the last day of the season with Carlisle winning 3-0 thanks to goals from George Walker, Barry Brayton and George Whitelaw in front of an attendance of 4,292 people.
Oldham may have only won at the home of the Cumbrians three times but one of those victories was a thumping 5-2 win, again on the last day of the season, but this time in Division Two in the 1984-85 campaign. The score was 1-1 at half-time only for the Blues to capitulate after the break and concede four goals while only scoring one in reply, Paul Gorman and Don O'Riordan being the Cumbrians goalscorers on the day as a paltry crowd of just 2,470 spectators looked on.

Recent respective form guides
Carlisle need to improve on their dire recent home record of just three draws from their last six games at Brunton Park, United's last win on home turf coming way back on January 17th against MK Dons. While the Cumbrians have scored six goals in those six matches a worringly large ten have been leaked at the other end.
Oldham's away form on the other hand is around the average mark, the Latics collecting one win and three draws from their last six games played away from Boundary Park. In these high scoring encounters Oldham have netted nine goals while a bumper 13 have hit the back of the wrong net.
Carlisle are hovering perilously just above the relegation zone, in 19th, with 44 points gained from their 41 matches contested to date. Meanwhile Oldham's 59 points from their 41 games played sees them lie inside the top half of the League One table, in ninth place.
