Carlisle welcome Stockport to Cumbria tomorrow, looking to continue an impressive record against the Hatters at home. United clearly on top over the years, having won 23 and lost only nine of the 40 games at Brunton Park.
The last time the sides locked horns in Cumbria was in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy Northern Area quarter-finals last season, Stockport winning 3-0 in mid-November in front of 3,395 spectators. The County goals, all in the second-half that night, coming from Adam Proudlock, Matty McNeil and Anthony Elding.
The tables were more than turned the last time the two teams played in the league at Brunton Park though, as the Blues crushed Stockport 6-0 at home in the League Two championship winning season of 2005-06. Carlisle racing into a 4-0 half-time lead through Karl Hawley, a brace of Derek Holmes goals and a comedy own goal from Wolves-loanee goalkeeper Carl Ikeme.
Hawley then completing a hat-trick late in the game to make the final result 6-0 as 5,664 spectators looked on. That hammering of County being United's biggest margin of victory at home to the Hatters over the years, easily eclipsing a 5-1 victory and two 4-0 successes in previous times.
