Carlisle welcome Stockport to Cumbria tomorrow, looking to continue an impressive record against the Hatters at home. United clearly on top over the years, having won 23 and lost only ten of the 41 games at Brunton Park.
Last season in League One County defeated the Blues 2-1 at Brunton Park in late February. Dominic Blizzard giving the visitors the lead on six minutes before Lewis Neal equalised for Carlisle after 53 minutes. Tommy Rowe though getting the winner for the Hatters 20 minutes from time in front of 5,930 spectators.
United's biggest win against the Hatters came when the Blues crushed Stockport 6-0 at home in the League Two championship winning season of 2005-06. Carlisle racing into a 4-0 half-time lead through Karl Hawley, a brace of Derek Holmes goals and a comedy own goal from Wolves-loanee goalkeeper Carl Ikeme.
Hawley then completing a hat-trick late in the game to make the final result 6-0 as 5,664 spectators looked on. That hammering of County being United's biggest margin of victory at home to the Hatters over the years, easily eclipsing a 5-1 victory and two 4-0 successes in previous times.
Stockport meanwhile have had quite a few big wins at Brunton Park over the years in their ten overall victories. County winning 5-0 and 5-1 in Carlisle's first two seasons in the Football League in the late 1920s, and also gaining 4-0, 4-1 and 3-0 wins in other matches in the past.
