History of the Carlisle United v Yeovil Town fixture

The Blues are ready to welcome the Glovers to Cumbria tomorrow, aiming to secure another win in only their second home match against Yeovil since the Somerset side came into the Football League at the start of the 2003-04 season.

So, the only previous meeting between Carlisle and Yeovil at Brunton Park was just over three years ago, in January 2004, with the Blues running out 2-0 winners in a Division Three (fourth tier) match. That dreadful 2003-04 season saw United eventually relegated into the Nationwide Conference with one of their rare home wins coming against the Glovers in front of 5,455 spectators, then player-manager Paul Simpson and Craig Farrell scoring a goal in either half to seal the three points for the Cumbrians.

Recent respective form guides

Carlisle are showing reasonable home form at the moment, having won four and lost two of the last six matches played at Brunton Park. The goals for column just outweighs the goals against over this period at seven to six.

Yeovil have had a decent run of form away from home recently, coming away with three points three times, drawing once and losing just twice. Those six games have constituted an excellent return of ten goals for the Glovers, and, amazingly, only two against.

Carlisle's 46 points from their 31 games sees them lie inside the top half of the table, in tenth position, United just one point away from the play-off spots, although the teams above them do have games in hand.

Yeovil's total of 51 points from their 30 games played sees them sitting in fifth, in the play-off places, in League One, the Glovers having the second best defensive record in the division behind table-toppers Scunthorpe.
