Brentford goalkeeper Jack Bonham is set to join Carlisle United on a half-season loan.
The London club today said the 23-year-old, who has just agreed a contract extension at Griffin Park, was Cumbria-bound.
The Blues also confirmed they had held "positive talks" with the Bees and Bonham and would comment further once those talks were concluded.
Bonham had been widely linked with a move to Carlisle from an early stage in the close-season.
News that he is en route to United for the start of pre-season ends supporters' long wait for the first piece of incoming transfer news at Brunton Park.
Carlisle were left without a senior goalkeeper after the departures of Mark Gillespie and Max Crocombe after the end of last season.
Bonham has so far made seven senior appearances for Brentford and one previous outing for former club Watford.
The Bees say his move is likely to be completed later this week, subject to EFL approval, and he will be with United until January 1, 2018.
Brentford head coach Dean Smith said on the club website: “We all believe that Jack has great potential. But to fulfil this potential he needs to play matches. Carlisle will give him a wonderful chance to do this.”
The former Ireland Under-17 international is behind Luke Daniels and Dan Bentley in the pecking order at Griffin Park.
He was often in the Bees' matchday squad in the Championship last season.
United said: "We have had positive talks with Brentford and Jack, and we will have more information once they come to a conclusion."
