Collins is fed up of waiting for the takeover to be completed
Roddy Collins has publicly voiced his frustration at the lack of progress in the takeover of the club.

Yesterday a press conference had been scheduled to announce the end of Michael Knighton's era and install his friend John Courtenay as new owner. Courtenay has promised Collins funds to strengthen the squad and has also said he will hand him a five-year contract.

But delays blamed on "outstanding legal issues" have forced the postponement of that conference and there have been no further announcements to date.

Collins said today: "It is a bit annoying and frustrating. I don't like people messing me about and messing my friends about. So, I just hope whatever is going on is not intentional because that is not nice. At this stage it is getting a bit boring. John has done everything in his power. He is obviously serious about the business, so I don't know why it has not happened.

"Everyone knows that John is ready to take over the club. The current ownership say thay have been waiting for a buyer to come for four or five years. That buyer is now here, has made a serious offer and shown the determination and the desire to own the club."

Collins is desperate for the takeover to be concluded as he is still operating under a transfer embargo whilst Knighton owns the club. The PFA loan that the club took out last year has still to be repaid and Courtenay has said he will do that as soon as the club falls into his hands.

Collins has already had a taste of Knighton's tactics when a meeting in London arranged between his brother Steve and Mr Knighton failed to take place when Mr Knighton allegedly failed to show up. Steve Collins, the former world boxing champion, had been hoping to buy the club at the end of last year.

York off

The away game at York City tonight has fallen victim to the wet weather. A pitch inspection at 8.45am found the ground to be unplayable after 48 hours of heavy rain. The news means Carlisle will now have to play three games a week for the remainder of this season.

Antony goes to Gateshead

Young midfielder Paul Antony has completed a move to Unibond League side Gateshead.

Earlier this season he was put on the transfer list by Roddy Collins and spent some time on loan at Newry Town in the Northern Irish league. He is expected to make his debut tonight against Lancaster City.
