Barnet celebrate
Barnet: Blazing a trail
Barnet are setting a hot pace at the top of the Conference after thrashing Morecambe 5-1 on Saturday.

The game was another triumph for the Bees top scorer Guilano Graziolo, who claimed two more goals but a nightmare for Morecambe captain Keiron Walmsley who was sent off in the first half for two bookable offences. The 10 men from Lancashire still managed to go in front on 59 minutes with a Terry McFlynn goal, but the home side were on terms within 90 seconds. Former Oxford player Simon King levelled. Bees skipper Ian Hendon netted a penalty on 71 minutes after Grazioli had been fouled by the keeper, and then the six-goal striker netted two in three minutes as Barnet took charge. The final nail was hammered in by Nick Bailey.

Aldershot Town are in second, but they had a struggle to see off winless Northwich who were upset by the manner of the Shots opener by striker Roscoe D'Sane. The Aldershot striker was ruled onside as he stroked the home side ahead on 25 minutes, having run back from an offside position. Despite the controversy Vics kept their composure and were level on the stroke of half-time through a Chris Giles own goal. But the on-form D'Sane had the last word with the winner on 63 minutes.

Gravesend continue to sail serenely on, making it four wins in four games as they overcame Stevenage Borough. Fleet boss Andy Ford was named manager of the month for August before the kick-off - but it didn't stop his side going on to celebrate the award. Borough went ahead through Dannie Bullman but a second half revival saw the 3rd-placed side take the three points as Moussa Sidibe struck the two crucial goals.

Halifax showed their impressive display against Carlisle in midweek was no fluke as they took all three points from the visit to Edgar Street, Hereford. Lewis Killeen had the Shaymen ahead inside four minutes and although Adam Stansfield levelled on 28, it was Town who were well in control by the break with goals from Ryan Sugden and skipper Steve Bushell. Hereford could not claw their way back and Denny Ingram's injury time own goal was scant consolation.

At the bottom, there was joy at last for Leigh boss Phil Starbuck whose side defeated Forest Green in a basement battle watched by just 305 fans at Hilton Park. Chris Simms got the Railwaymen off to a great start in the 3rd minute and Ian Fitzpatrick struck home a second from a free kick in the 68th.
