New Carlisle United signing Christie Elliott is looking forward to a new challenge after agreeing to join the Blues.
Versatile right-back Elliott, 27, is set to link-up with United on an initial one-year deal - subject to clearance of all paperwork - ahead of the beginning of the 2019/20 campaign as he turned down a new contract with Scottish Championship outfit Partick Thistle in favour of a move south of the border.
Elliott said: "My contract was coming to an end at Partick. I have been there for eight years now, it’s been a long time. I got offered a new contract there, but I just felt a change was needed.
"Thankfully, Carlisle showed a lot of interest and, when I came down one day, I looked at all the facilities and straight away, I knew it was a big club and it ticked all the boxes.
"So, I was happy to get the opportunity to come here."
South Shields-born Elliott started his footballing life as a centre-forward in non-league with Jarrow and Whitley Bay, before being snapped up by Partick Thistle.
He scored on his debut for the Jags and played for the club in both the Scottish Premier League and Championship.
Elliott becomes the club's second summer signing, following fellow defender Jack Iredale in agreeing to join Carlisle ahead of the new campaign.
