Striker Steven Halliday, goalkeeper Luke Weaver, and defenders Adam Thwaites and Lee Hoolickin have been added to the names of Will Varty, Lee Maddison and Paul Anthony who were already listed earlier in the season. Ian Stevens was taken off the transfer list last month after being restored to the first-team. Halliday was the man Stevens replaced up front and it seems the player who was brought back to Brunton Park by Ian Atkins last season is on his way out of the club. Neither Thwaites nor Hoolickin have broken through to the side under Collins and Weaver has lost his first-team place to Peter Keen. Meanwhile, midfielder Mick Galloway is all set to join Unibond League side Gretna on loan. Galloway turned down a similar move to Workington Reds last year and has fallen out of favour with Collins. He has only recently shrugged off a serious knee injury and is struggling for full fitness. It now seems he will have to drop down three divisions in order to recover that fitness. Even if Galloway gets himself match-fit, it is doubtful he will be able to force his way back into the manager's plans. A big clear-out of players is expected at the end of the season and Galloway is expected to be one man on his way out of the club. York to quit league on April 1 Fellow relegation strugglers York City will quit the Football League on April 1 if a buyer can't be found in time, say their owners. Chairman Douglas Craig announced that they had given notice of their intention to resign on that date if no-one comes up with an estimated figure of £4.5m to purchase the club and its ground at Bootham Crescent. If York dropped out of the league, the authorities may not decide to relegate a team this season. This would be a relief to United and other struggling sides. The newly-formed York City supporters' trust now has the arduous task of raising the money or getting together a consortium to rescue the club before the deadline. League spokesman Ian Christon said: "York have given notice that they will resign from the Football League on April 1 if they can't find a buyer. But if April 1 passes and their resignation was confirmed and then they found a buyer, they would be able to re-apply for membership. Mid-May would really be the cut-off point for the club as that is when the fixture list starts to be prepared. They would not be able to be included after that." |
