Green: Staying with the Tigers
United target Stuart Green has pledged his future to today's opponents Hull City after speculation suggested he might be on his way to Brunton Park.

The Cumbrian-born midfield star had a spell on loan at Carlisle last season before returning to Newcastle United and he joined the Humbersiders on a long-term loan deal at the start of this season. Roddy Collins was known to be keen to bring him to United on a permanent basis but any move for Green will now have to wait until the end of this season.

Green could face the Cumbrians today in a Hull side who broke a 15-game run without a win when they pulled off a 2-1 away victory at Cambridge last week. The Tigers were made championship favourites at the start of the season but have collected just seven points from 7 games, two places above Carlisle who have the same points tally.

"I don't let the speculation get to me", said Green. "As far as I'm concerned, I'm a Newcastle United player on loan at Hull and I will go back at the end of the season. I'm totally committed to Hull. I love it here."

Green is expected to be back in the starting line-up this afternoon after returning from a three-match suspension. He has already scored twice so far this season.

Meanwhile Carlisle are all set to welcome back striker Richie Foran who has missed three games through suspension himself. He is likely to replace Brian Wake in the starting line-up. Trevor Molloy and Marc Nixon are also in contention for forward places. Brian Shelley is also back from his 3-game ban but may have to act as understudy to Mark Birch who has cemented the right-back spot.

United have lost their last three league games and have not scored in the league since August 17.

Official Supporters' Club relaunched

Moves to relaunch the Official Carlisle United Supporters' Club have begun in earnest following a meeting attended by around 30 fans in the Sunset Suite at Brunton Park on Thursday evening.

Members of the supporters' trust (CCUIST) have been asked to help kick-start the club, which is once again to become independent of the football club with its own commitee and separate banking facilities. Membership for adults costs £10 with a range of concessionary prices also on offer. Members will qualify for subsidised travel to away games and will also receive a discount at the club shop, along with members of CCUIST.

It is hoped to re-decorate one of the bars inside Brunton Park and convert this for use as a Supporters Club members-only bar and entertainment venue on match days as well as throughout the week.

A website and mailing list are being created to provide information updates for interested supporters and the new club will share premises with CCUIST in the building behind the CUFC Club Shop on Warwick Road.

Anyone interested in either joining or volunteering their services is asked to contact Kate Rowley on rowley@rowley19.freeserve.co.uk
