"For me there were so many positives out there, but the one big negative is conceding from these set-pieces. These young players have got fantastic characters and I am really confident that they will go on and continue their good form in the League. I suppose I'd rather this happen tonight than on Saturday, and maybe that is a consolation.
"Maheta (Molango) has worked really had in training. He's a good lad to have around the place. He hasn't had the best of times since he's been in England, but he comes in every day with a smile on his face and is prepared to work hard. He's taken on board what we're trying to say to him and he's travelling with the squad. He deserves it.
"They (Carlisle) are difficult to break down. They've only conceded three goals in six games, so I think it will be tight. If we do anything like we have been doing recently, play with confidence and commitment within the plans we have tried to set out, I think we'll be fine. There is so much quality in this squad, for such a young squad, but now they are going to have to come of age and really show a steeliness. I feel quite confident that once they do that we can win every game comfortably.
"The system we are playing (4-3-3) encourages quite a lot of freedom among the two widest central midfield players, the wide players and the centre forward. Our play in the final third has started to improve. The movement has improved, the calmness has improved and the quality of the final ball is getting better. I think we'll create more and more as the games go on."
The Seagulls welcome back striker Maheta Molango and goalkeeper Wayne Henderson who were out of favour under old boss Mark McGhee, and captain Richard Carpenter, available again following a three-match ban for his red card at Millwall. Marseille-born Cape Verde international defender Georges Santos is also fit to play after recovering from a neck injury, and Guy Butters will perhaps make the bench as he makes his comeback from a back problem. Definitely out though will be Charlie Oatway (broken ankle), Joe Gatting (foot) and Adam Hinshelwood (knee).
The referee for tomorrow afternoon's match is Jonathan Moss from Leeds and he will be assisted down the lines by Mark Astley and Karl Evans, both from Manchester. Evans incidentally the referee for United's 2-0 home reserves win over Preston on Wednesday night, meanwhile the fourth official will be Chris Brumwell from Carlisle. Following the death this week of former referee and refereeing coach Peter Foakes, Jonathan Moss will wear a black arm band throughout the game tomorrow as will all officials at all Premiership and Football League games.
