Danny WilsonBlades boss Danny Wilson spoke to BBC Radio Sheffield and his club's official website ahead of his side's League One game against Carlisle at Brunton Park tomorrow afternoon, Wilson looking for the Blades to move up a spot in the division in the second half of the season :

“We’ve always said that we wanted to be at the top of the table and not in second place but we’ve got to try to claw Charlton back. They have had a fantastic season so far but we are snapping at their heels and if we keep doing that and play as we have done then we are very confident that we can start to claw a few points back, but it is still going to be a very, very tough second part to the season.

"We have a focus on the next game which is Carlisle, and then we will focus on whatever comes to us after that. We have to believe we can keep this run going but we know how hard it will be up at Brunton Park,. We watched them draw with Huddersfield Town on Friday night and thought they played really well so it will no easy game for us up there. We will go into the game in great spirit and in great form so it promises to be a good match.

“We said before when we started to get one or two suspensions, like last week with Lee (Williamson) and this week with Cressy (Richard Cresswell) and Quinny (Stephen Quinn) that there are boys who have been chomping at the bit and they are capable of coming in the team and playing well, and they have come in and kept the run going. They are not squad players in my opinion, they are first team players, there is a difference, we are not just putting somebody in because we have got nobody else.

“We are putting players in who we know can do it and that is the big difference as I feel that we are not just relying on somebody to fill a gap for a week or two and then letting them come out. They are really staking their claim and it is a terrific problem that we have. Johannes Ertl has come in and done a great job when Matty (Matthew Lowton) went off, maybe not as attack minded as Matty but defensively he is very good.”
