"I just can't wait for the game. All I want to do now is have my pre-match meal, put my boots on and get going. It is close to my hometown of Glasgow and that is the happiest thing about the place. I did score three goals in two games against them for Leeds last season too but I don't just put that down to being Carlisle. Hopefully that will be most teams in our division this season.
"Whatever happened in the last week was then, this Saturday is Carlisle and I have a responsibility to help the team with goals and performances. It was my first training session on Thursday and there is definitely enough quality here to be challenging to get back into the Championship.
There is a difference between the two divisions, but can this team get back up there? I think they can. In my eyes half the squad are Championship players and the other half is learning to be Championship players.
"I said to the chairman when we met that if I don't feel that I can progress the team then I would shake hands with him and call it a day. When we did the deal it was in a hotel - face-to-face - with no agents being used. All I said is pay me what the players get paid and I will come and play for you. Having been in the game a long time money isn't everything. I want to do well for Southend, starting at Carlisle tomorrow."
