Gillingham manager Mark Stimson spoke to BBC Radio Kent ahead of his side's match at Carlisle tomorrow, Stimson hoping that the Gills can get their first away win of the season despite being without influential skipper Barry Fuller :

" Barry is a big player for us, he has had a fantastic season and he has led by example. But we have got to get on with it haven't we, we have put up with not having Simon King all season and have had to deal with it. Now we are going to have to see how long Barry is out for, he will miss quite a bit of time and any time without your captain and somebody who is playing so well is going to be hard.

" But what it does, it gives someone else a chance doesn't it, and now it is up to them to come and say there are as good, or if they do half as good then I will be pleased, and that will start on Saturday. The captain on Saturday will be Danny Jackman, he took over on Tuesday night and he will do the same on Saturday.

" It would be nice to end the away run at Carlisle, it would be great to do that and it is a trip, so if you are going to win somewhere then it is best to win somewhere like Carlisle because it would be a fantastic trip back. Fingers crossed we can do it because we are desperate to end the run like everybody else is. If we do it is three points to our tally but we are going to have to work hard for it.

" If we can put the same performance in as the last three games then I will be pleased with that, and if we do then I am sure we will get something. If we can just go on the last two games, four points from six, that is a good tally. If we can do that over the next two games then I would be very pleased with that as well. "

" There is a good chance we will have three strikers to go there, whoever they are, because we want to try to win the game and ask their defenders questions and go for it. Because we are in a situation now where we need wins, draws might not be enough, so we have got to go for the win. But then if you don't get the win, then get the draw as that is obviously better than getting zero points.

" So we will be positive in what we do and we have got players available now who can do that. It didn't work completely on Tuesday night because we drew, but we had a go and I think we had the better chances. After a fantastic start we just didn't capitalise on that but it wasn't for the want of trying.

" It was just maybe missing the chances that came around, but those three if they play together again then they will just get used to each other, because it is difficult. Because having three up there rather than two, sometimes they do get in each other's way, but we were fairly pleased with things.

" Carlisle had a bad result in the week, they are a decent side because they are in a decent position in the league and they have got a final to go to at Wembley. So we know we have got to a put a shift in and if we do, like we have done in the last three games, then we won't be too far off. "

As Mark Stimson has already partly alluded to, Gillingham will be missing Barry Fuller and Simon King through injury at Brunton Park tomorrow. Right-back Fuller having broken his arm in a 1-1 home draw against Leyton Orient on Tuesday, while centre-half and reigning player of the year King has been out all season with a bad ankle injury picked up against Bromley in July.

Their other bit of team news late this week being that 31-year old striker Mark McCammon has turned down the advances of Rotherham United to join a different League Two side on loan for a month, McMammon having in the end signed for Bradford City. That meaning that the Gills squad ahead of the game is :

Alan Julian (GK), Simon Royce (GK), John Nutter, Josh Gowling, Tom Wynter, Garry Richards, Darren Dennehy, Kevin Maher, Jack Payne, Mark Bentley, Curtis Weston, Stuart Lewis, Danny Jackman ©, Adam Miller, Rashid Yussuff, Chris Palmer, Simeon Jackson, Chris Dickson, James Walker, Andy Barcham, Luke Rooney, Dennis Oli, Rene Howe.

The referee for tomorrow's match is Paul Tierney from Wigan, and he will be assisted down the lines by Richard Bartlett from Sale in Cheshire and Paul Kettlewell from Lancaster. Meanwhile the fourth official is Martin Coy from Darlington.
