MK Dons boss Karl Robinson spoke to BBC Three Counties Radio ahead of his side's League One game against Carlisle at Brunton Park tomorrow, Robinson though first looking back at Wednesday's closing of the summer transfer window :
"There was probably interest in our players but not that I heard, but there are a number of things that go in the game and it is part of it, I am sure somebody will have spoken to our players but I think it is going to be very difficult for a lot of our players to turn their back on being top of the league and competing for play-offs/automatic promotion and getting into the Championship.
"So, it is an exciting time to be a player here and we are playing some fantastic stuff, there have been a number of plaudits in local media and national media that we are a team that everyone should watch or should have heard, someone said that if you like Barcelona then go and have a look at MK Dons. Those little things that people say mean a lot to us, it does, because we do pride ourselves on trying to do things in a certain way, in a continental way sometimes. It doesn't always work, I accept that but we are getting plaudits for doing the right type of football and long may that continue.
"I think Jay (O'Shea's) scan is this afternoon so he is going to go and get that tested and see where that is at, and once that comes back we will see what the extent of that is. It was a complete freak, it was obviously offside and he has stopped running and the fella has just sort of trampled on him, it is a strange one so we will see how that one goes. Mathias (Kouo-Doumbe) is slowly starting to kick a ball again now and he is still three weeks away from being where we want him to be. He has got to be fit and he has only played probably 40 minutes of football so he is a long way from where we want him to be.
"We pride ourselves on being a fit team, we pride ourselves on them all being athletes so we are not going to put him in when he is not right, and he has got a long way to go yet. Angelo (Balanta) is almost fit but he is not going to make it, which is good and bad news, good that it wasn't as bad as we first thought but not great because we know he is not going to travel so we will be without him. But, Jabo (Ibehre) is back, he trained on Thursday and he looked as strong as ever and that smile of his lit up the training ground as it always does."
"I got sent off at Carlisle last year and I don't really like those seats up in the stand, they were old and wooden and they didn't have much leg space so I won't be doing that again, I have learnt a lesson from that. It's not a great place for us, I think we have got one or two players from the 5-1 there, probably only three players will start tomorrow that started the 4-0 last year.
"We are the same club going there but we are a different team with a different mentality and a different style, so I am really looking forward to it. They are a good team, Greg Abbott has done an unbelievable job to bring the players in that he has, I respect him as a manager and them as a football club. It is a special place for John Gorman to go back, he is obviously a bit of a legend up there, so he loves going back to Carlisle and it is a place where he has got fond memories of, so for him it is a nice occasion, let's just hope we get the victory for him.
"Our fans have travelled up and down the country and have been magnificent this year, our fans have outsung the opposition but then when you do go up to Carlisle and Hartlepool they do have a club steeped in history. The Carlisle team John played in, they were top of the old First Division back in John's heyday and those fans are still there, 35 years on, and they are still going to watch their team that they have supported all their life.
"We have not got that yet, there is a youthfulness about our support but there is slowly becoming a hunger and a passion to follow us up and down the country. Winning games and playing football the right way, and I think fans seeing players that care wins fans over. Everybody at this football club cares about us winning and getting out of this league this year, we are slowly starting to have a bond between the pitch and the terraces and long may that continue for the football club."
