Wolves boss Kenny Jackett spoke to his club's official website ahead of his side's League One season ending match against Carlisle at Molineux tomorrow afternoon, Jackett wanting Wanderers to end their title winning campaign on a high:
“First off I am delighted that the place is going to be full, that is terrific. It is a terrific achievement by the players for this season and for that one we do want to get the points total. It is within our grasp, a good performance and a good win tomorrow and we will get that. So, we are going to go all out to do that and prepare ourselves and push ourselves to be in that situation. Then as well we want to send these people home happy, cap off a great season, and most importantly out of all of it send them away looking forward with optimism for next year, that is a really big thing.
“So, that is going to be our theme, we will respect Carlisle like we do and they have their own particular situation. But, we will do our homework and make sure we have everybody detailed in their strengths and weaknesses. After that though it is about us, as usual it is about our own performance and we want to put on a top class performance on Saturday and really play well and finish the season strongly.
“Carlisle are a good footballing side, they have a lot of technical ability, they are fighting for their lives and they have to win their game and hope around the country that things go for them. Carlisle have been known for famous last day escapes before and that is what they will be aiming for. So, we will work on being detailed on our preparation on Carlisle, and then after that really concentrate on ourselves.
“When you see Brentford’s result at Colchester last week and I didn’t think Coventry away was the easiest game for us to play in. We got our noses in front and unfortunately an own goal got them back into it. There were very few chances at either end but I still can’t say we deserved to win. We take a point anyway, we move on, we are looking for a far better game, a better performance, a much better standard this week. We will be capable of it, the pitch will be perfect and we are really looking to finish our season in style with a performance that we are capable of hitting the heights."
“The players are focused, we have had a normal week and, two normal sessions on Thursday and we have worked hard to make sure we are in the right frame of mind and that physically everyone is geared to doing well. My focus is on the game and after that the awards we have got will release the good feelings, which we have the opportunity to do.
“Congratulations to the lads that have got into the PFA team, it shows a really dominant Wolves side and the good thing is that if you didn’t know who had got in it then it wouldn’t be necessarily easy to name the five. You can name some very good players that have done well for us that didn’t get into that PFA team. But, it is a very good recognition by their peers.
“In terms of next season there is no news on signings yet, but it is good to be done early in terms of even negotiations. The only one is bad news and that is that there is no future contract for George Elokobi going forward. George has been a fantastic servant to the club and I am sure everybody will join me in wishing him all the best for the future, and also thanking him for what he has done in a long period in his career here at Wolves.
“The process after the game is that we will get off the pitch pretty quickly to be able to come back on. If everybody could respect that and give the players a chance to come out to the crowd rather than the crowd to the players, and we would prefer it that way round. So, we will get off pretty quickly, reappear and then we really do want the opportunity to try to thank the crowd.
“Because, they have played a major part and the link between the players and the crowd is something that has been great this year. But, it is something we want to continue with next season because next season already is an exciting one for us. We are going to need to play well, to motivate that crowd, to get them in their numbers to make sure that we bounce off each other to try to get the success that we want.”
