Wanderers midfielder Matt Bloomfield spoke to his club's official website ahead of his side's League One game against Carlisle at Brunton Park tomorrow afternoon, Bloomfield though first looking back on Wycombe defeating Chesterfield 3-2 at Adams Park last weekend :
“Chesterfield was just a massive three points for us, I was really pleased to be able to play some part in the game, obviously I would have preferred it to be in different circumstances rather than one of my team-mates (Scott Donnelly) getting injured, but it was just a great three points for the team and we are all delighted with that. We performed really well at MK Dons and then had two weeks to sit and stew on the result, so we were really looking forward to getting back onto the pitch last weekend.
“It was obviously positive for us to score some goals in the last couple of games and we need to take that with us going forward and we have to build on the hard work that we have done because one result does not make a season, the hard work does literally start here. Anthony McNamee and Marcello Trotta cause problems for the opposition, Trotts is obviously a goalscorer, we can see that in training and in games already. So, it is good to have players like that around but everyone has been working hard this year and it has been going well for us at some times and not so well for us at other times, and we need to stay together as a group and move forward.
“I’m not sure if Stuart Beavon is playing much different to last year apart from he has added goals to his game as well. I thought last year he was absolutely brilliant for us and one of the main reasons why we ended up getting promoted, and this year he has taken on that form and he has added goals, not many tap-ins but just 20-yard worldies. It is not a bad to way score goals if you are going to do it so I think he has been brilliant and fantastic for us.
“We have been doing a lot of work recently on the defensively play in the team shape and it comes from the front, it is then our shape in midfield and the back lads as well. So, we are in it as a team, going forward, scoring goals, it is not just about the front lads, it is about everyone and equally defensively, if we are going to get ourselves out of the position we currently find ourselves in then it has to be as a team, going forward and defending, so it is a team effort and that is what has to happen.
“First and foremost on Saturday now we have got to work hard, we have to go out there as a good team shape, work hard for each other, hopefully one of our front lads, or if they don’t score, someone will get a goal and we will come away with some points, that is what we want to do, we fully intend on going up there and trying to win the game. But, it is going to be tough, they are on a good run, they have got a great home record and are just outside the play-offs so we know it is not going to be easy. But, we are on the back of a win and we want to go there and try to follow it up with some more points."
