" I was pleased with the way we competed to earn our third clean sheet in a row, but I didn't feel as though we passed the ball well enough to create the chances to go on and win the game. Our selection at times and the movement off the ball lacked cohesion and can be improved on, and we will hopefully see that this evening.
" The last time we met Carlisle United was at the back end of last season where a good win helped us to pull clear of the relegation places. The performance of the players coupled with the response and backing of the crowd were fantastic on that day, and a similar atmosphere is my wish this evening.
" Night matches at The Den have something really special about them and tonight we are looking for a top class performance and response from both the players and supporters alike.
" Generally we have been organised and solid of late. I feel that we can do more going forward as a team. Not just our forwards, but we can give our forwards a better service, we can be a bit sharper and more creative in the final third. There is plenty for us to work on, things that as you get injuries and suspensions can be disruptive of the flow of a good side.
" That is where we are now but we won't be the only side because at this time of the year everybody ends up having changes. We have to keep working hard on the training ground to make sure that our work and our understanding retains so that we can create the chances for the forwards to put away. "
Meanwhile centre-half Paul Robinson commented to the official Millwall website :
" Confidence building is all about it and we have started well here. We come into this game saying that this is the start to our season now, we start now, forget about last week. That confidence will hopefully push us on, especially through our next three home games. "
In team news for the Lions this evening defender Tony Craig comes back into the side after serving a one-match ban on Saturday for picking up five bookings this season. Craig returning in place of Marcus Bignot who misses out after suffering a knee injury within the opening 25 minutes of that 0-0 draw at Leyton Orient. Finally fellow centre-half Zak Whitbread faces a late fitness test ahead of the match on a groin injury.
The referee for tonight's match is Fred Graham from Stanford-le-Hope in Essex, and he will be assisted down the lines by Andy Davies from Southampton and Harry Lennard from Eastbourne in Sussex. Meanwhile the fourth official is Barry Holderness from Essex.
