City manager Paul Lambert spoke to his club's official website and BBC Look East ahead of his side's second round FA Cup tie at Brunton Park tomorrow evening, Lambert first commenting on his two loan signings he made yesterday in Russell Martin from Peterborough and Anthony McNamee from Swindon :

" I think Russell Martin, we needed help in the right-back area, as everybody knows at one stage there were three lads out injured at the same time. We tried Jens (Berthel Askou) there in the cup, we have tried Korey (Smith) there, so you were actually filling gaps with people that weren't comfortable at right-back.

" Michael (Spillane) being out for a long time, George (Francomb) still out and Jon (Otsemobor) with his hamstring injury, we needed somebody to give us a hand. Russell, who I knew about from Wycombe, when he came into the equation, it wasn't just his footballing ability, I think his character as well, which is important for me to think he is going to see it through and he will be a good professional. Which is really important for us and he will do great for us.

" Anthony (McNamee's) case was that we needed pace in the team, everybody knows, it was well documented that we tried to get him in earlier. We couldn't do it, but I saw him playing a few years ago now when I was at Watford and him and Ashley Young were on either side of the wing and they were frightening.

" I have wanted him since then, he has gone to Swindon obviously and has done really fine there. We just needed an option where I think he will get people off their seat. He won't do everything right every single time, but in his position he's got to make things happen. An offensive player you can forgive for trying to make things happen and maybe getting it wrong, but as long as they keep on going that's what I'm looking for.

" He is cup-tied tomorrow though so he can't come with us and he is out. Russell is available but the team at the minute is doing brilliant, but he will be in the squad. This team at the minute is playing really, really well and the lads in the team are there on merit. It's up to people to break into it. You get in the team on merit, so even though I bring someone in it's not an automatic thing they'll get in the side.

" With Russell joining training it raised the whole thing. I always think that if you bring somebody in to help it, you start to look over your shoulder and think no, that could be me. The way to rectify that is to make sure it's not you. It's ok bringing a footballer into a football club, but he's got to be the right type of lad and you won't get it right all the time, but hopefully the ones that have come in are. "

" The website coverage helps us financially, OK, the timing, 5.15 kick-of is probably not the greatest but it helps people who can't get to the game as they can watch it. If that is the way football is going at the minute, you might find there is going to be more of this website thing, internet and all that, that seems to be a powerful weapon at the minute. It happened to England so I am sure that if it happens with the national team it will happen throughout the smaller teams also.

" If the only way I could watch it was to do that then that would be my last resort to do it. I would try to get the game or try to see it another way but watching a computer doesn't really give me great inspiration. That is just me personally, that is not anybody's opinion it is just mine, I would rather try to get to the game. But I understand that people can't get to it and the next best thing might be on your computer.

""It's a hard game, no doubt about it. There is no pressure on either team regarding league points so it's a totally different game from what was up there the other week. Carlisle are playing well, Greg (Abbott) has done well there. I think it is a really tough game at the best of times, even if Carlisle are having a hard time it is a tough place to go.

" But we went up there a couple of weeks ago and won and if we keep playing the way we have been then hopefully we will get through to the next round. You're never over-confident, but we've only lost twice in fourteen games, so we'll go there with a lot of confidence and try to win.

" An FA Cup run gives the lads the chance to get a bit of prestige if we can get another round. Hopefully we can get one of the Premier League teams that come into the equation in the next round. If we could get somebody like a Manchester United or a Chelsea or any of the big ones at the top of the Premier League, it would be absolutely brilliant for the city, for the players and for everybody connected with the football club. So, if we can get through it would be great. "
