Russell Slade Looks Ahead To Tomorrow

Orient boss Russell Slade spoke to his club's official website and BBC London 94.9 ahead of his side's League One match against Carlisle at the Matchroom Stadium this weekend, Slade first looking back on the O's beating Portsmouth 1-0 at home on Tuesday:

“It was a bit of a forgettable performance on Tuesday really but a vital three points, so we’ll move on very quickly to Carlisle. There's nothing you can take for granted and it's a very open league. It’s proved to be that most of the season in all honesty and each team that you play throws up a new challenge.

“Carlisle will be no different, Greg [Abbott] always gets his team well organised. They’re just seeking a few more points to secure their position in this league where I'm sure they will be and then to push on and get as many points as they possibly can. That’s the same for most of us.

“Obviously I believe in the group that we've got, it's not a big group but I believe in that group it's a good group. No-one can get unhappy about not playing enough and everyone's behind the 11 that are out there on the pitch. There’s a very good spirit here and hopefully that'll see us through until the end of the season.

“Games seem to have come thick and fast this year and now it's the final hurdle and the final flourish before the end of the season and we seem to be in decent form albeit it wasn't a great performance the other night. We just need to keep that going, but we have had a couple of good cup runs which have kept the momentum going as well.

“Nothing's changed here and nothing will change. We just want to win as many games as we can between now and the end of the season. We are talking about utilising the minutes we have got left of the season, which is 720, making sure we don't waste any of them and win as many games as we possibly can.

“We might need to win six games [to make the play-offs] which is a real tall order. We will have to be better than we were against Portsmouth on Tuesday if we are going to do that. We’re talking about the top end rather than the bottom end and it was very similar in my first full season. We had the hiccup last year but here we go again and we’re finishing strongly so let’s hope we can keep it going.”
