Saints boss Alan Pardew spoke to his club's official website about his side's match against the Blues at Brunton Park tomorrow, Pardew suggesting that United have one or two players that could threaten his team :

"Carlisle are a good League One team, they have lost a few games this year but they've won a couple too and they look competitive and organised. They have one or two players that could possibly threaten our team, but we have to approach it in the same mentality as them. I understand they are celebrating 100 years of football at their ground, which means that they will be highly motivated. However, if we match that, then we should win.

"We've got three games coming up and we've got to be looking at winning at least two of them, that will be our agenda and we hope to kick that off on Saturday. To get a win would make life a lot easier for the next home game, because we want a good crowd at St. Mary's on Tuesday night. We need to send a message back from Carlisle that a win or a draw was part of an outstanding performance and perhaps deserved even more.

"Bristol Rovers will be a really tough game on Tuesday so it will be important at Carlisle that we get those three points and go into next week with some points on the board. At the moment we are very much in the relegation zone and we need to focus on that rather than looking anywhere else at the moment.

"I felt that complacency was an overriding issue in training this week. On Tuesday I thought we were awful, and I don't know what the reaction to a win has been like here in the past, but our reaction to it wasn't good enough and I've made that very clear, so hopefully we've shaken that out of them now.

"I just had to remind them that your last training session is like your last match and if you take every session in that way, then you should have a chance of keeping your place in the team.

"It's a tough trip for the fans this weekend. We have the luxury of taking a flight, but we're not looking at doing that to show that we're a big team, it's because we're cautious of a game on Tuesday night. Unfortunately our fans won't all have that luxury for the long trip back, but hopefully we will put on a performance which is worthy of that journey.

"It was an important win against Yeovil last weekend and was one which everyone in Southampton expected which worried me on the day but we did manage to get it, so we've ticked another box. The discipline of the team is better but that winning mentality is still not quite there. However, at set plays we're looking comfortable and are a threat, so we're getting there but we're still some way short."
