Cherries attacking midfielder Harry Arter spoke to his club's official website ahead of his side's League One game against Carlisle at Brunton Park tomorrow afternoon, the ex-United loanee first talking about the recent return to Dorset of manager Eddie Howe:
“We spoke when the gaffer first came in and he said he wanted me to score more goals and luckily I have done it so far. It was disappointing to be out for the length of time I was. The gaffer came in and he watched the team beat Leyton Orient on the Saturday. I thought maybe I’d have to bide my time to get back in, but fortunately for me he decided to put me back in and I have been pleased with the last two games. Hopefully now I can continue playing like this.
“I always try and obviously play my best and get man of the match, but to be my first game back and for the gaffer’s first game back it was a good way to start. To get recognised for playing well is always a compliment and obviously I won’t let it get to my head and I’ll try to get in team of the week next week.
“I’ve always spoke really highly of Carlisle’s gaffer Greg Abbot and he helped me a lot. I was only there for a month but I hadn’t played much league football prior to that so I owe a lot to him because he gave me a chance to go and get games under my belt – and I scored my first football league goal up there. I’ve always said it was a good experience and it was something that really helped and developed me I think.
“He tries to get his team passing. He bases it on work rate and playing good football the right way and that’s what helped me when I went there so it will be a tough game. It’s been a positive start to the new gaffer’s reign and myself and the lads are confident, and we are really looking forward to Saturday.”
Meanwhile striker Josh McQuoid told his club's official website:
“We just have to deal with the long journey - obviously there is a lot of travelling in football. We just rest as much as we can, and chill out on the coach on the way up there as well. We have lots of things to do – there is always a bit of banter going on! The starting players haven’t trained as much this week, just to keep their legs fresh, but it varies on the week. The manager always varies the training dependent upon how many games we have.
“It’s good for us to be getting goals from everywhere because it means that everyone is contributing to the game. It goes the same with defending - it starts from the front and everyone throughout the team has to contribute to scoring. It’s good to have loads of people scoring, because it’s good for competition for places – it’s healthy so it’s nice to see.”
In team news for the Cherries tomorrow afternoon they look likely to have a hefty six players out of action. Starting in goal Darryl Flahavan is out with a shoulder problem, and in defence Stephen Purches is absent due to a broken leg, while across the midfield area Richard Hughes has a hamstring problem and Mark Molesey is missing with an Achilles injury. Finally upfront Lewis Grabban picked up an ankle problem in Bournemouth’s win against Tranmere last weekend, while Charlie Sheringham misses out due to a foot injury.
The referee for tomorrow's match is David Coote from Newark in Nottinghamshire and he will be assisted down the lines by Seb Stockbridge from Dunston, Tyne & Wear and Michael Salisbury from Preston. Meanwhile the fourth official is Paul Kettlewell from Lancaster.
