Charlton manager Chris Powell spoke to the assembled press ahead of his side's League One match against Carlisle at the Valley this evening, Powell looking for a response from his players after they have lost their last three games :
"We lost the game at Notts County in tricky conditions and we have to move on and deal with that. We have two home games now where I will be looking for maximum points. I'm always looking for a response from them. We've lost our last three but the signs are there.
"You still have to believe in what you are doing. The players are still creating and moving forward but of course we do have to win games. Ultimately it is about results and that's what we need now."
In team news for the Addicks this evening they will be without former Carlisle striker Joe Anyinsah was has picked up a training ground niggle early this week. Also missing upfront will be 28-year old striker Pawel Abbott who yesterday completed a free transfer move to Polish side Ruch Chorzow, Abbott having been in York to a Polish mother and English father.
Perhaps their biggest absentee tonight though will be central midfielder Johnnie Jackson who has scored 15 goals in just 38 games this season, Jackson having limped out at half-time of Charlton's 1-0 defeat at Notts County on Friday evening with an Achilles problem. Although in better news for the home side frontman Paul Benson looks set to have recovered enough from a back injury to take a place on the substitutes bench.
Into the back line for the Addicks and Argentinian-born Leeds United-loanee left-back Federico Bessone remains out after suffering a hamstring injury in a 3-2 home win over Peterborough two weeks ago, and fellow left-back Kelly Youga has been out for well over a year now with a cruciate ligament injury, his knee now has a chondral defect though so he is sidelined for the rest of this season.
The referee for tonight's match is Army FA official Major Danny McDermid from Aldershot in Hampshire and he will be assisted down the lines by Warren Atkin from Crawley in West Sussex and Philip Knight from Canterbury in Kent. Meanwhile the fourth official is Michael Bull from Chelmsford in Essex.
