John SheridanSpireites boss John Sheridan spoke to the Chesterfield Post ahead of his side's League One clash against Carlisle at the b2net Stadium, Sheridan hoping his team can make it three wins in a row this afternoon :

"We've had two positive results and we're trying to get as many points as possible with the start we've had, so it's very pleasing, and to keep three clean sheets in the process is full credit to the players. We're on a little run and it gets us out of a sticky patch. We've got to try to do that if we can for four, five, six games. So hopefully we can take it and be confident going in to the game tomorrow which I know is going to be a tough game, but we'll go out and try to win it.

"Luck evens out during the season. Any manager will tell you that it evens out over the season, sometimes when you're at the bottom you don't get luck, it does seem to go against you, but I think you make your own luck. Our last three games we deserved to get three points, even the Orient game we should have won, so in my eyes, we should have nine points. Get the consistency and level of performance and you have a good chance of winning games.

"We've had three clean sheets and that's a big ask from the players the way we started, and full credit to them, they've responded really well. I'm proud of them but I just want them to sometimes listen to the instructions they're getting because I think myself and my staff know a bit more than the players.

"I tell them about faults, even after we won 3-0, there are areas where we need to improve. I want to get out of this league, and us to do things better sometimes - and that's what I'll carry on doing whilst I'm at this club. They're a good group of players and hopefully they'll listen. three clean sheets is a good return, if you can get that first goal, there's always an opportunity to win the game.

"Carlisle are a good team, on a good run - even the games they lost they should have got something out of. A good team, good manager, very underrated in my opinion, so it will be a tough game and we must make sure we're up for it because if we don't, we'll come unstuck."

Going into the game this afternoon the Spireites have an extensive injury list with six players absent at present. Firstly goalkeeper Tommy Lee looks likely to be out for a month after picking up a groin injury in Tuesday's 1-0 home win over Bury, Chesterfield boss John Sheridan therefore yesterday signing 18-year old stopper Adam Smith from Leicester City on loan for a month as cover for former Gretna number one Greg Fleming.

In the outfield ranks left-back Gregor Robertson is sidelined after rupturing his Achilles tendon at the end of last season, while right-sided midfielder Jamie Lowry is absent with a broken toe. Meanwhile, staying in that area of the team the Spireites skipper Dwayne Mattis and Derek Niven are both central midfielders who are sitting things out at present with ankle injuries.

The final player missing for Chesterfield being experienced striker Jack Lester who is expected to be out for three months after fracturing his arm two weeks ago in a goalless home draw with Leyton Orient. In some rare good injury news for manager Sheridan though is he able to welcome back two midfielders into his squad with Dean Morgan returning from an abductor muscle problem while Danny Whitaker is available again following a back problem.

The referee for this afternoon's match is Nigel Miller from Consett in County Durham and he will be assisted down the lines by Lance Corporal Rob Ellis from the Gamecock Army Barracks in Warwickshire and Ben Toner from Darwen in Lancashire. Meanwhile the fourth official is another Lancastrian in Paul Marsden from Leyland.
