Foxes boss Nigel Pearson spoke to his club’s official website ahead of his side’s Capital One Cup second round tie against Carlisle at Brunton Park tonight, Pearson set to name a changed City side:

“We will make some changes, we have got two long journeys this week before the international break starts. I think it will be a case of looking at how the players came through the last game, the ones who played the majority of the game, and give one or two players a chance who have not had much pitch time so far. We want to win the game, but I think it is important that we prioritise this season, which we will do, but we will be looking to try to win the game.

“These games are always tough, home or away, they are one of my old clubs so I am looking forward to going back up there. I had some really good times up there, and some fond memories of some really good people who worked there. But, the league will always remain priority for us this season, but we take very competition very seriously. It will be a chance for some of our players to show what they can do, which is good for them. “

Meanwhile Foxes frontman Jamie Vardy commented to his club’s official website:

“I want to play in as many games as possible, obviously if I can keep scoring and keep playing then it is only good for me and the club, but that is up to the gaffer. We need to win that game, and I know Carlisle are a lower league team but they are going to be well up for it. They knocked a Championship club out in the last round so you never know, but if we play to the best of our ability then hopefully it will be another victory as confidence is sky high at the moment.”

In team news for the Foxes this evening they look likely to have two centre-halves missing through injury in skipper Wes Morgan and former Preston man Sean St Ledger. Morgan highly probable to be rested with a slight back spasm picked up in the training last week, while St Ledger has a grade two tear in his knee which will see him absent until around the end of September.

The referee for this evening's match is Graham Salisbury from Preston and he will be assisted down the lines by Barry Cropp from Lytham and Billy Khatib from Sunderland. Meanwhile the fourth official is Paul Curry from Morpeth. The officials perhaps also responsible for overseeing 30 minutes of extra-time if the scores are level after 90 minutes, and then a penalty shoot-out if the two sides still can't be separated after 120 minutes of action.

Meanwhile, should Carlisle progress to the third round, the draw for that stage of the competition will take place tomorrow night after all the second round ties have been completed. The  draw featuring the 25 round two winners plus Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United, Swansea City, Tottenham Hotspur and Wigan Athletic.
