Leyton Orient assistant manager Kevin Nugent spoke to his club's official website ahead of his side's League One game against Carlisle at Brisbane Road this evening, Nugent saying that the O's need to pick up the three points from the match :
"It's an important one, of course it is, not least because you want to win every game. The last two performances have been pretty good and we've been quite pleased with them. If we can carry that into the game against Carlisle, hopefully we'll get the result we need. We may have lost against Southampton, but it was a good performance against one of the better sides, so that should give us confidence. We have to take advantage of our home games. The support has been fantastic and having them behind us is a great benefit.
"Carlisle are a decent side. They were flying at the start of the season and have got some good, experienced players. They won the Johnstone's Paint Trophy at Wembley too, and we know what to expect. It'll be a tough game. We've had a few injuries and possibly there's been a bit of fatigue too, but we've managed to keep them as fresh as we can. If you're going to do anything in the League you're going to overcome those kind of challenges, and we've had a good Cup run too, so the hectic run has been part of being successful. The season has gone ok so far, but we want to keep on being successful, and for us that means getting into the play-offs."
Meanwhile O's skipper Stephen Dawson told his club's official website :
"A few weeks ago we were getting the rub of the green, the opposition were hitting the post, missing chances and we'd end up winning, but now we're playing well again and not getting the luck. At the start of the season it was the same, playing well and getting nothing out of it, but we've still got 18 points to play for and anything could happen.
"You can have your holidays in a couple of weeks if you're feeling knackered. That can't come into it, this is a massive game coming up on Tuesday night, the fans were magnificent again here and we need everyone again to be behind us, because I believe if we get the result there and we're on level points with Bournemouth, they'll be thinking 'we're in trouble here': they're in freefall, and they can't buy a win at the minute.
"There's always one club that comes out of nowhere, that's the way it's been all year, nobody's looked at us and now we're probably putting too much pressure on ourselves because we believe this is our year. Sometimes football works in mysterious ways, and I believe this is our great chance to get into the play-offs and make something for ourselves, and for the club."
In team news for the home side this evening they will be without three first-teamers in Ben Chorley, Alex Revell and Jimmy Smith. Centre-half Chorley out with a thigh injury, O's second top scorer striker Revell absent for the rest of the season now with knee ligament damage picked up last Tuesday evening in a 2-0 home win over Plymouth, and midfielder Smith sidelined with a knee injury from the weekend's 2-0 Brisbane Road defeat against Southampton. In better news for Orient boss Russell Slade though midfielder Matt Spring is available for selection once more after recently undergoing a three-match suspension following a red card in a hefty 5-1 home reverse against Yeovil.
The referee for this evening's match is Gary Sutton from Lincoln and he will be assisted down the lines by John O'Brien from Wimbledon Park in Surrey and Elliott Kaye from Ilford in Essex. Meanwhile the fourth official is Oleksandr Saliy from Enfield in Middlesex.
