Kenny Jackett
Lions boss Kenny Jackett spoke to his club's official website and the News Shopper ahead of tomorrow's game at home to Carlisle, Jackett hoping for a win tomorrow despite a mini-defensive crisis at the New Den :

"Carlisle looked very good on the last day of the season and I was particularly impressed by Graham Kavanagh because he ran the game. They also have Marc Bridge-Wilkinson, Scott Dobie and Joe Anyinsah, who has got some pace and caused us problems before. Like everybody, they have some good players but we are really concentrating on ourselves. We respect Carlisle as we do everybody but we are really looking at our early season form, our progress and our football.

"We've signed George Friend on a one-month loan from Wolves. He has played at centre half, left back and even midfield at times, but he is definitely coming in here as a back four player. We only have a minimal amount of defenders fit but the biggest thing about George is the fact he is a good player. I'm waiting on Tony Craig because hopefully he is not too far away from coming back, but I don't expect him to be available for Carlisle on Saturday.

"In the first two games we haven't been able to name a defender on the bench, which leaves us just one injury away from having a problem. I'm pleased to have signed George, and I'm looking forward to having Tony (Craig) back. I am also still looking at the possibility of bringing in a right sided centre back on loan with Robbo (Paul Robinson) still likely to be missing for a few weeks yet."

As Jackett has mentioned Millwall see their defensive ranks strengthened by the addition of Wolves-loanee George Friend. The 21-year old brought in as cover for injuries to Tony Craig, who picked a back problem in a pre-season match against Middlesbrough, and skipper Paul Robinson who remains sidelined with a broken foot.

Another three injuries in that threadbare back line being to Pat O'Connor who is recovering from a ruptured cruciate ligament in his knee, Danny Senda who has a tear in his achilles tendon, and highly rated centre-half Zak Whitbread who is suffering with a hip problem. Upfront is where the last team news comes for the Lions as Jason Price missed Tuesday's 4-0 Carling Cup win at home to Bournemouth with a dead leg.

The referee for tomorrow's match is Darren Deadman from Peterborough, and he will be assisted down the lines by Simon Long from Ipswich and Michael Rowley from Reading. Meanwhile the fourth official is Matt Foley from London.
