Attacking midfielder Luke Chadwick spoke to the Milton Keynes Citizen ahead of his side’s League One match against Carlisle at stadium:mk tomorrow afternoon, Chadwick in a good frame of mind after the Dons defeated Blackburn 2-1 at home in midweek Capital One Cup action:
“It’s always good to put the negativity behind us. We’ve had some bad press – some things have happened, maybe they should, maybe they shouldn’t have, but we’ve come out, got a good win over Blackburn, and now we move on to a bigger game against Carlisle, keen to get three points. The league is bread and butter for us, that’s what we’re here for and we’re here to get promoted.
“Hopefully I’ll get a few more goals this season and spread them out a bit. I feel good at the moment. I think having a break over the summer did me some good, because normally I’m running a lot, but this time obviously I couldn’t. Now I’m well rested and feel strong and fresh, so long may that continue.”
In team news for the Dons tomorrow it’s all about who is suspended and who isn’t with them having picked up a remarkable four red cards in their opening four games of the campaign, all of which have seen three match bans come into effect. Central midfielder and vice-captain Stephen Gleeson was the first to go this season and so he is now back in action, while centre-half Antony Kay saw out the last of his games in midweek, which means he is once more available for selection.
Two players are still out though with central midfielder Alan Smith serving the last game of his ban while left-back and skipper Dean Lewington sits out his second match. The other player absent for the Dons being centre-half Mathias Kouo-Doumbe who is still working his way back to match fitness after only returning to training on Thursday following a month-long knee injury. Game sharpness also being a concern for Jimmy Bullard, with the 33-year old midfielder having earlier this week been signed on a short-term contract until the end of December.
The referee for tomorrow afternoon's match is Oliver Langford from Wednesbury in the West Midlands and he will be assisted down the lines by Ian Fissenden from Gravesend in Kent and Guy Stretton from Enderby in Leicestershire. Meanwhile the fourth official is Mike George from North Walsham in Norfolk.
