Posh manager Darren Ferguson spoke to his club’s official website ahead of his side’s League One home game against Carlisle, Ferguson first referring back to the Blues beating Peterborough 2-1 at Brunton Park in late December:
“They beat us at their place so there’s no way we can even think about taking them. That result could work in our favour now because we know we have to be at the top of our game to beat them. We were disappointed with our defeat at Bradford, but we are still in a great position. We need two wins from three matches to reach the play-offs and two of those three games are at home. It’s still very much in our own hands. Of course we have been inconsistent, but to enjoy success you sometimes have to suffer a bit of pain first.
“So, after the Bradford defeat we go again, it is another big match for us and in front of our own supporters. Our form at home has been good of late with three wins on the bounce and we know that our two home fixtures will be key in this run in. Carlisle got a point over the weekend at home, but it is more about what we do and if we play to how we have done in two and a half home fixtures out of the last three, then I would be confident of getting the right result.”
In team news for the Posh they will be without two players while they also have doubts over another. The duo definitely missing being centre-half Shaun Brisley who sees out the first match of a two game suspension following his red card in Peterborough’s 1-0 defeat at Bradford City on Good Friday, and central midfielder Danny Swanson who is absent because of an ankle injury. Meanwhile first-choice goalkeeper Bobby Olejnik is rated as 50-50 for the Carlisle game after missing the loss at Valley Parade through illness,
The referee for tomorrow's match is Dave Phillips from Chichester in West Sussex and he will be assisted down the lines by Nick Cooper from Ipswich and Nigel Murphy from Mansfield. Meanwhile, the fourth official is Rob Whitton from Braintree in Essex.
