North End midfielder George Miller spoke to his club's official website ahead of his side's League One game against Carlisle at Brunton Park tonight, Miller first looking back on his 45 minutes of action at St James' Park on Saturday :
"It was great to play the whole second half against Exeter City at the weekend, it was unfortunate that Danny Mayor went off injured but it was nice to get back out there and get another 45 minutes under my belt and a win. I will play anywhere the gaffer (Graham Westley) asks me to. My preferred position is obviously in the centre of midfield but if I have to fill in anywhere then I am more than happy to do so.
"It helps when you have experienced players alongside you because they can guide you through the game by consistently talking to you all the time. Every footballer has their goals and I am no different, once you have played one or two games the next step is to establish yourself as a first team player and that is what I am looking to do.
"It has taken a couple of games for me to taste my first win but it was nice for everybody to get the win on Saturday. We have been under a bit pressure to get the win and it was good to get it against Exeter City. It is going to be a hard game on Tuesday against Carlisle, it is a tough place to go and it will be a fight right until the end, but the lads are up for it and we are raring to go."
In team news for the visitors this evening they look likely to be missing five players through injury, while they also have doubts over the participation of another. Starting in the full-back position on either side left-sided Steven Smith (unspecified muscular problem) and right-footed David Gray (hamstring) are both still a good way short of match fitness having featured on their comeback trail for North End’s reserve side in a 3-2 defeat at Wrexham last Wednesday.
Just behind those two meanwhile in the rehabilitation stakes are another pair of Lilywhites, with striker Neil Mellor (knee) and centre-half Craig Morgan (foot tendinitis) having only just returned to full training yesterday morning. The final definite North End absentee tonight being midfielder Adam Barton who dislocated his ankle and broke his leg in two places in a 0-0 home draw against Walsall three and a half weeks ago.
It also remains to be seen whether right-winger Danny Mayor will play any part in this evening’s game, the 21-year old having been substituted at half-time in North End’s 2-1 win at Exeter on Saturday after suffering from illness in the build-up to the game. In better news for Lilywhites boss Graham Westley though he should be able to call on the services of influential midfielder Paul Coutts who has missed Preston’s last two matches with a thigh strain.
The referee for this evening's match is Carl Boyeson from Hull, and he will be assisted down the lines by Ken Haycock from Bradford and Jeremy Simpson from Carnforth. Meanwhile the fourth official is Martin Coy from Darlington.
