Town winger Paul Parry spoke to his club’s official website ahead of his side’s League One game against Carlisle at Brunton Park tomorrow evening, Parry looking for back-to-back wins after the Shrews won 2-1 at home to Bradford City on Saturday:
“There are a lot of games in a short period of time, so Tuesday is the one to focus on now and if we can take three points from Carlisle then we will have a good return from two games. There is a lot of character and fitness within the squad, so we need to use that and kick on for the remaining fixtures. Carlisle had a bad result at the weekend, so we will look to capitalise on that.
“Hopefully they will feel a bit sorry for themselves and we can use what we have done today and come home from Carlisle with the three points. We have to win as many games as possible really, we have got to play a lot of teams that are around us currently, and hopefully a few more wins will bring a few more teams that are above us into the equation as well. There is still plenty to play for and hopefully Saturday can be a springboard for us.”
While Town’s on-loan Sheffield United striker Shaun Miller told the official Shrews website:
“There are some massive games coming up against all the teams around us, so it is a great opportunity to overtake the teams you are playing each time you play them. It was a great three points on Saturday and now if we can go to Carlisle with a lot of confidence from the last game and look to get another three points, then we will be climbing the table again. It is still very tight, get a few wins together and you fly up five or six places. So, especially playing the teams around you it is in your own hands. So, they will be massive six-pointers, and we will certainly take the confidence from Saturday into all those games.”
In team news for the visitors tomorrow they look likely to be missing four players through injury, with the first two being central midfielders as Dave McAllister picked up a twisted ankle in Shrewsbury’s 2-1 home win over Bradford City on Saturday and Luke Summerfield has been out recently with a thigh injury. Also absent meanwhile are winger, and Peterborough-loanee, Nathaniel Mendez-Laing with a hamstring problem, and Welsh under-21 international striker Tom Bradshaw is out for the rest of the season after suffering a knee injury in training this month.
The referee for this evening’s match is Steve Rushton from Stoke-on-Trent and he will be assisted down the lines by Simon Clayton from Newton Aycliffe in County Durham and Shaun Hudson from Houghton-le-Spring, near Sunderland. Meanwhile, the fourth official is Jeremy Simpson from Carnforth.
