Southend boss Steve Tilson spoke to his club's official website about the game against Carlisle at Roots Hall tomorrow, a win for either side meaning the Shrimpers or the Cumbrians could be top of League One by Saturday evening :

"It would be great for us to the top again. We're on a good run of form at the moment and we want to keep it going. We're going into the game full of confidence and it should be a good game.

"There will be a decent crowd too and we really want them right behind us because it does make a huge difference. It's one of those games that you really want to be involved in.

"We've turned around the poor start we had into a good one but I don't think we've actually been playing any better. We lost at both Brighton and Leeds when we shouldn't have done and we're just getting the rub of the green more often now.

"Long may that continue because 20 games is our next target. If we're still up there when we get to that stage then it will be excellent news because if you lose a couple around that time then the table doesn't chop and change quite so much."

In squad news for the Shrimpers tomorrow three players will definitely be out of action, one of those being ex-Carlisle man Richie Foran who has been laid low with influenza this week. Also sidelined are goalkeeper Darryl Flahavan with a back injury and defender Garry Richards who aggravated a foot problem in training.

The referee for tomorrow's match is Dean Whitestone from Northampton, and he will be assisted down the lines by David Bushell from London and Barry Holderness from Ilford in Essex. Meanwhile the fourth official will be John Magill who is another Essexonian as he comes from Colchester.
