Darryl Duffy
Scottish striker Darryl Duffy who scored the Swans winning goal at Brunton Park last season spoke to the Swansea Evening Post about the match at the Liberty Stadium tonight, Duffy saying :

"It was virtually the last kick of the game and kept our play-off hopes alive. It ended Carlisle's at the same time, and I'm sure they'll still be a bit bitter about that and will come here looking for a bit of revenge.

"They'll be right up for it and we've got to match that because we want to get another win under our belts. We've got to be more ruthless defensively and we've got to win ugly if that's what it takes. I need to get that first goal of my season, I need to get the monkey off my back, but I'm not pressing any panic buttons yet.

"It's been really frustrating. Five games into the season now and I've not got off the mark yet. But I'm quite a slow starter in league campaigns. I've always been that way, but I don't know why. I've always come good in the end and I'm confident the goals will start to come.

"But Jason (Scotland) is coming through one of those spells at the minute where he's got the golden touch. Every time he comes on the pitch he looks like he's going to score a goal or he does score. As long as one of the two of us are banging in the goals and we're winning the games, then we're quite happy.

"We need to start turning our performances into victories because we have been playing well but we have not been picking up maximum points. We need to start grinding out results because you cannot always play pretty perfect football and win the games. You need to do the dirty side of it as well and I think that's what we need to work on. The Carlisle game is absolutely vital that we pick up the win."

Meanwhile ex-Birmingham defender Marcos Painter commented to the Post :

"It's all right playing nice stuff, but at the end of the day we all want three points from every game. We played brilliant football and lost at Oldham, then we outplayed Nottingham Forest but only got a draw. That's no good really. We dropped points in both games and we want all three against Carlisle.

"Yes it's early days in the season, but we have got big aims this year and, if we want to get promoted, we need to be picking up results now. I rate them, they have got some good players and it's definitely not going to be easy. They'll have plenty of confidence after a good start to the season and we'll have to deal with that.

"I'm not totally pain-free, but I've trained for a couple of days and I'm fit if the gaffer (Roberto Martinez) needs me. I hope to be involved because I don't want to miss any games, especially one as big as this."

In City team news for this evening Dutch winger Ferrie Bodde is serving out the second match of a three game suspension picked up for aiming a headbutt at Doncaster's Brian Stock in a 2-1 defeat at the Liberty Stadium two weeks ago. As mentioned left-back Marcos Painter is just coming back to full fitness after being sidelined for a month with a foot injury while centre-half Alan Tate will definitely be out of action tonight with a fractured knee-cap.

The referee for tonight's match is Clive Penton from Woodingdean in Sussex, and he will be assisted down the lines by Peter Grove from Stourbridge in the West Midlands and Simon Snartt from Bristol. Meanwhile the fourth official will be Simon Knapp, who is also from Bristol.
