Saddlers striker Troy Deeney spoke to his club's official website and the Birmingham Mail about tomorrow's match against Carlisle at Brunton Park, Deeney hoping that he can get himself on the scoresheet in the match :

"We were devastated to lose in the manner that we did at Tranmere. We did enough to earn a point but switched off at the crucial moment and it cost us dear. It's going to be a tough game at Carlisle, we are under no illusions about that, but we will go there and do a professional job and hopefully bring home some points to show for our efforts.

"We should have won there last season when we had enough chances to win. I should have scored but tried to place the ball when I should have blasted it. Hopefully I will get it right if a chance comes along on Saturday. I am desperate for a goal. I should have scored against Cheltenham the other week but did everything right but hit the post.

"I am still confident though. I always think I am going to score. I score every day in training and, even though I am playing wide on the right in games, I still get chances to score coming in at the back post. The mood in the camp is still upbeat, we are determined to get on a good run of form, something that we've not been able to do so far, yet still we find ourselves up there in the top half of the table

"We are not going up there just to try and get a draw. Hopefully we will put up a good performance for the fans that travel all that way. Away from home, Walsall's are top fans, to be fair, and the boys really appreciate their support. Carlisle is a horrible place to go, so far away. They are not having the best of seasons. They get started on a run then lose a game - so we have just got to get at them."

Meanwhile Saddlers goalkeeper Clayton Ince commented to his club's official website :

"It's going to be a long, cold journey up to Carlisle. We know it will be a difficult game, but we are ready for the conditions and determined to get three points and give our fans something to cheer about. It's been a punishing schedule of matches over Christmas and the New Year, but the lads have been working hard and now is the time to reach a level of consistency that will give us a successful second half of the season."

In team news for the visitors they will be without through injuries, captain and midfielder Stephen Hughes (groin), centre-half Stephen Roberts (knee) and former Carlisle left-back Paul Boertien (hamstring). Also sidelined is experienced striker Michael Ricketts who serves the second match of a two-game suspension for a red card picked up at Stockport on Boxing Day. Finally midfielders Mark Bradley (back) and Sofiene Zaaboub (virus) are rated as 50/50 to be a part of the Saddlers matchday sixteen.

The referee for tomorrow's match is Craig Pawson from Sheffield, and he will be assisted down the lines by Lee Metcalfe from Preston and David McCallum from the Tyne and Wear area. Meanwhile the fourth official is David Unsworth (not the former Everton player) from Bolton.
