Walsall frontman Will Grigg spoke to his club's official website and the Express and Star ahead of his side's League One match against Carlisle at Brunton Park this evening, Grigg pleased with a 0-0 draw at Griffin Park last weekend:
"We've proved that if we battle as a team, we will get the rewards. We did it on Saturday at Brentford as we came home from a tough place with a point. The Gaffer (Dean Smith) gives us a lot of freedom to go forward and there is plenty of attacking quality in our team. As well as that, we have also got a solid back four, which gives us a base to build from. It means that we always have a chance and to go to a team like Brentford and keep a clean sheet and cause them problems, shows what we are capable of.
"I'm capable of getting 15 or 16 goals this season. But I just want to take each game as it comes and see where it takes me. As a team we're certainly going into games in confident mood and enjoying it. There's a great atmosphere around the place and that comes across on the pitch too. We’ve been used to being underdogs and going into games with less pressure but there will be a little bit more on us now – maybe because we’re expected to win.
“It’s weird because of the last couple of years but we’ve beaten the better clubs so we know we’re capable of winning and it’s up to us. It’s different but in a nice way. It’s nice going into games knowing we’ve got every chance of winning it.games knowing we’ve got every chance of winning it. I don’t think any of the boys think we’re going to lose.
“We feel confident we can score goals – I know we didn’t score on Saturday, but we can. It shows how far we’ve come in the last few years where we’ve been in relegation battles and we’ve really turned it around this year. It’s good for the club, the gaffer and everyone has done well. It’s nice to see us moving forward.
"It would be nice to go to Carlisle and get a result to avenge our home defeat. We still remember that one; we didn't deserve to lose but at that particular time we were conceding a lot of late goals. Carlisle are having a tough time and it’s a bit of a difficult one because maybe it’s one we’re expected to win now.
“We’ll be going there knowing it’s a tough game and Carlisle will be fighting for their lives but hopefully we can get the three points. Teams at the bottom are winning – Hartlepool won again on Saturday – and Carlisle will really want to get to 50 points so it’s a massive game for them and us. We're a different team now and we've proved that we are able to push on in the latter stages of games. Everyone is playing with no pressure and hopefully we can continue to do that."
