Adam Collin
United goalkeeper Adam Collin (AC) spoke to BBC Radio Cumbria's Paul Newton (PN) at Thursday's press conference for the local media, Collin first looking ahead to Carlisle's long journey to Bournemouth on Saturday :

AC

It has been a real good week, worked really well, I don't know what the trip has got in store, it is a long way down there but we have done our work this week and we are looking forward to it.

PN

Another clean sheet for you of course on Saturday, that is three in a row now, as a goalkeeper you can't ask for much more than that?

AC

Yeah, three in a row, four out of seven I think it is, so it is going really well. It is not just me, it is the back four, it is the midfield, it is the whole team really. We are all working hard to keep clean sheets but obviously from my point of view it is my aim when I go out on the pitch and I am just glad it is coming off.

PN

You are unbeaten so far, has that exceeded expectations?

AC

Well, we were positive at the start of the season, obviously we just take each game as it comes and the longer the run continues the better for us. We take one game at a time so it is Bournemouth this week, we have done our team shape and work on them today.

We know what they are about now and we know how we are going to go and set up and play, so we will do that and then we will move on to Hartlepool, and then we will move on to Peterborough after that. So, it is just one game at a time.

PN

But, there must be a real sense of confidence and belief in the squad at the moment given the start you have had?

AC

There is yeah, everybody is wanting to play. You look at the bench and there is so much quality on the bench as well. So, everybody is pushing each other, there is a lot of confidence in there, it is a real good place to be at the minute.

PN

What is the mood like amongst those players not making the starting eleven? How difficult do you think it is for them?

AC

Obviously it is not nice to sit on the bench but no-one is showing any signs of negativity or anything like that. They are all getting on with it, they played a reserve game during the week and we all have the same days off, we all train together, we all travel together, we do everything together. It is just one real good squad and everybody pushing everybody. So, it makes for good competition and it is a good dressing room.

PN

And Graham Kavanagh has taken on more of an active role on the coaching side this season, how much benefit have you seen from that?

AC

Yeah, it has been very beneficial, it has allowed the gaffer (Greg Abbott) to maybe just stand back in the odd training session and have a look at things. But, Kav still joins in and he still wants to play, so he is as competitive as ever on the training pitch. Again, he is pushing all the lads really hard.

PN

And Bournemouth on Saturday, what kind of game have you been told to expect?

AC

It is going to be hard going down there, not just with the journey, they are a good team. They are a very attacking team we have been told, we know what to expect and it is going to be a tough game. You always seem to get one team that gets promoted and gets off to a flyer in the next league as well. So, it is up to them to try to keep it up and it is up to us to really go down there and try to put a halt to it.
