Mark BeckUnited forwards Mark Beck (MB) and Dave Symington (DS) BBC Radio Cumbria's James Phillips (JP) following Carlisle's 2-1 extra-time Capital One Cup win at home to Ipswich, Beck understandably proud to get his first senior goal:

JP

How proud are you of that first professional goal?

MB

Oh, very proud, just really glad to get on the scoresheet, I have got on the pitch a few times before but never really had a chance on goal, and I was just glad to get that one in the back of the net.

JP

One fell to you just a few moments before that one as well just before the goal, when that one came and went did you sort of think if I get another one I am having this?

MB

Yeah, that one just came at me quickly and I have just swung at it and it just went wide, so I have thought to get my head down as there will be another one on the way somewhere.

JP

Does it help you when you are coming through to have so many players who you did sort of come up through the youth ranks with to know in that squad?

MB

Yeah, I was thinking that, obviously I played with Dav for two years so I know what he is like, I know he can cross a ball so I was just glad to be in there.

JP

What about you Dave? What did it feel like when you rifled yours in, a bit of Theo Walcott about your goal wasn't there?

DS

Yeah, I am just over the moon, a couple of weeks ago I scuffed one more or less exactly the same, and I had that image and I thought that I wasn't doing that again. I just picked my spot and I put it there.

Dave SymingtonJP

What did Greg Abbott and Graham Kavanagh say to you on the sidelines when you are going on? What do they want to see from you?

DS

They know I can beat a man with my pace, it is just my end product really and I just need to concentrate on crosses, and today I thought I did that particularly well.

JP

How excited are you now about having more opportunities now you have got that really big chance, and really showing what you can do tonight?

DS

Yeah, I am over the moon how I have progressed this season, and I just need to keep it up and see if I can keep it up consistently now.

JP

Same as I asked with Mark, how important is to have some of your mates who you have sort of grown up with at Carlisle United in there with you as well?

DS

Oh, it is a massive help, just even in training, you know what each other are capable of, and if you do something wrong the senior pros are more like come on now, whereas we stick together. Because, we still live together and that we just cheer each other on, and it is easier with each other, there is more support as well.

JP

Do you feel you have taken a big step tonight when you look around and see some of the company that you were sort of mixing it with, in terms of your own team-mates let alone Ipswich, seeing some of the bigger names of Carlisle United out there and did you feel a bit of part of it?

DS

Yeah, I felt a part of the team today, I couldn't ask for anything better really.

JP

Just if you can describe the moment when over 3,000 people, after playing in reserve and youth football, cheered a winning goal for Carlisle taking you through to maybe Manchester United in the next round?

DS

Oh, I was speechless, I didn't even know what to do with my celebration and he (Beck) just came along and just tackled me to the floor and I just went mental.
