New Carlisle loan signing Michael Bridges spoke exclusively to BBC Radio Cumbria yesterday evening as he gave his thoughts on his first game for the Blues and life at his new club. The ex-England under 21 striker is with United until the end of December with the chance to make him a permanent signing from Bristol City at the end of that period  :

" I thoroughly enjoyed it, I got a fantastic reception when I came on which was good to see. I’ve gone on when we were 2-0 up but a little backs to the wall and a bit under pressure and the gaffer (Paul Simpson) just wanted to change it too see if we could just hold out.

" I had a back-post header, a 20-yarder and some good touches. I was just a bit disappointed with my pass through to Karl (Hawley), the left-foot shank, I thought I could have given him another goal there but it wasn’t to be tonight.

" I’ve only been here three or four days, I had a game midweek to get a run-out as the gaffer wanted to see my fitness and there wasn’t a problem there.

" We’ve gone on from there and gone out today and I’ve come into this team and the spirit seems to be fantastic and they’ve got themselves into a winning mentality. Whereas I’ve come from Bristol City and the lads are going through a bad spell down there and to see the difference in atmosphere is unbelievable.

" Football is a big confidence thing, when you are on top of the world and you are flying then the confidence in the dressing room is second to none. I’ve been lucky enough to witness both sides of that with Sunderland when we got promoted and relegated and you do see it. It’s good to come here with a winning mentality and long may it continue.

" The playing surface wasn’t too bad. The lads were saying earlier on that it’s been better than normal because it’s been a little bit more frosty, there seemed to be a bit more toughness in the ground instead of it being so boggy. I think they were happy that, it didn’t seem too bad out there and we’ve got the win so it doesn’t matter what it is like.

" Unfortunately I’m ineligible for the LDV game, I’m cup-tied. We (Bristol City) played down there and I came on for, I think it was, fifteen minutes against Barnet in the last round. That unfortunately has made me cup-tied for the Tuesday night game which is a setback for me. "
