Cobblers boss Stuart Gray
Town manager Stuart Gray spoke to the official Northampton website this evening after the 2-2 draw with Carlisle at Sixfields, Gray clearly pleased with the efforts of his side in the game :

"It was a lot, lot better and you saw the joy the late equaliser brought to the fans and players. That showed how together the dressing room is. We have under performed and under achieved in recent weeks but we showed good character today. Our tempo was good, our set plays were good and we created a number of chances.

"I was upset that their second goal was allowed to stand. Mark Bunn was clearly barged and caught in the chest by their lad but that is the way the decisions are going at the moment. Bunny is very mild mannered but you could tell from his reaction that he was elbowed in the chest and that it should have been a free kick.

"We have to use the late equaliser as the springboard to take forward. The conditions were conducive to a quick tempo game but I was disappointed with the number of bookings there were. I don't think the game warranted that many.

"The commitment and spirit was excellent. We are the sort of team who have to play at a high tempo and we have to lift the supporters. If you put in the effort and show the commitment the fans will offer plenty of support. We have to put this sort of performance in again on Tuesday and start showing some consistency. I thought Jason Crowe's energy in midfield was a lift for us and he was rewarded with his goal.

"Danny Jackman was feeling his calf and Andy Kirk had a slight muscle problem and with one eye on Tuesday we had to protect both players and that is why they came off. Poul Hubertz has his Achilles problem that is hindering him and we had to consider that if we started him in this game he may not be ready for Tuesday and of course we lose Dean Bowditch for that game as well as Jason Crowe and Bradley Johnson.

"There was a big sense of relief when the first goal went in. Since I have been here scoring goals at home has not been so much of a problem until the last few weeks. I thought with the chances we created and the quality of our set plays we could have scored more today.

"There is nothing wrong with the team spirit here - all we have been lacking is a bit of confidence. Things have gone against us and we have not played well in recent weeks but here we showed a reaction to come back twice and we have to take it on from here. A point was the least we deserved."
