"We could have won the game in normal time because we hit the woodwork twice and Eddie (Johnson) also had a very good chance. But losing is not the end of the world. We had a lot of possession in the first half without being able to find that killer pass. But we stepped it up in the second, moved the ball very well and started to make things happen.
"Our supporters have seen once again that we have played a major part and attacked Carlisle without getting that reward that I think we deserved. We are a good side and if we continue to play that way then we'll win a lot of games. Carlisle played their part as well and the one advantage they've got over us is a big squad which we haven't.
"But that's just how the cookie crumbles when it comes down to penalties. I left it up to the boys to take them and sometimes it goes for you but this time it didn't. Naturally we're all disappointed but I've got no criticism. I've told the players that they have once again given a very good account of themselves and positives are there for everyone to see.
"We have got to look at the manner of our performance and there was no real difference to the Crewe game other than we probably had a bit more penetration then."
