Magpies midfielder Jeff Hughes spoke to BBC Radio Nottingham and his club's official website after his side's 4-0 League One win over Carlisle at Brunton Park, Hughes first talking about his close range header which opened the scoring for the visitors:
"It was great play by Alan Judge on the left and to be honest I just had to get my head on it. I seem to score up here, I scored a couple up here for Bristol Rovers too so it has been a good ground for me, I think I have got three or four up here now. It is a lovely pitch, a lovely pitch to play on so it has been working well for me.
"We were very disappointed with the last two results, so today was a very big game, I think we came out firing on all cylinders and we felt we were on top for most of the first-half, got our rewards and took our goals well. We were getting the balls in the box earlier and it paid off. We simplified a few things today, I think we played in the right areas today, we didn't give the ball away in so many sloppy areas and I think we were well deserving of the 4-0.
"The gameplan was a little bit different this year to last year, we were a bit more passing today and got the ball wide, we didn't so much pass it at the back but we did still try to retain the football. Last year we kind of identified they were a lot weaker than us and we kind of just bullied them to be honest. That was pretty much the gameplan and both worked, both worked very well, but it just a difference in styles I suppose.
"We got Jamal Campbell-Ryce and Judgey more space out wide, that is where they do their damage. It was a great build-up for the second goal, a great cross by Jordan (Stewart), I think he was aiming for me, but a great run by Neal Bishop and a good finish. It looked easier than it was probably was, he was sliding in when he did it and he had his leg up in the air, so it was a good finish."
"The manager (Keith Curle) told us at half-time to keep doing what we where we doing, keep composed and keep working hard. We knew that if we got an early goal in the second-half that we would kind of kill them off, and I think it did do to a certain extent. With Francois Zoko we had a bit of pace out wide and Judgey in the first-half and Jamal on the right, and we can get in from virtually nothing, a hopefull ball can get us in and that is what happened with Francois.
"It was a great flick and a great goal and once he gets goalside of you there is not really anybody in the league that can catch him. So, we knew he was going to get a goal, even from the flick, it was a great finish. If I hadn't scored today then Jamal wouldn't have been taking the penalty, that is pretty much it. But, he stepped up against Stevenage and scored, I thought I had scored today so it was him again.
"Me and him practice penalties against Bartosz (Bialkowski) in training, so I was confident in him taking it. He does alright in training, he is a confident boy and he has got great technique, so I was pretty confident he would score. Him and Judgey have got very good technique, and you fancy those two from the spot, and Jamal and me and Bart have a bit of a competition in training over a few pounds as well.
"We have got Coventry on Saturday, but we will just concentrate on the JPT on Wednesday, try to get through that and then we will concentrate on Coventry. We are taking the JPT seriously though, I don't think we can afford to take any competition or any team lightly, we need to be 100% in every game, and the manager won't let us drop anyway, so we just need to keep going, you want to go out and give a good account of yourselves and get through.
"We've got decent fans at home, they don't get on our back, in general they are quite supportive of the way we play. I think maybe teams have a different gameplan at our place, I think for instance maybe Carlisle would at Meadow Lane have come at us the way they did today. If we play the way we did today at home or away then we will pick up results, especially with the wide players we have got, and it gives us midfielders the chance to get in the box and get on the end of something good."
