Rochdale manager Steve Parkin, who was speaking exclusively to the club's official website www.rochdaleafc.co.uk admitted after the game he was disappointed to go back to Spotland with nothing after a performance he believed deserved something from the match :
"I'm still in shock that we didn't get anything from this one especially after the first half performance.
"We were playing against a team who are towards the top of the league with fantastic support and probably the only real regret I have is that we didn't go in at the break two or three up.
"I thought we created chance after chance, worked their 'keeper on several occasions and it said a lot for our play that Paul Simpson made a tactical change after half an hour.
"In the second half I thought we dropped too deep and the gap between the front and back players was too big. We never managed to create the same momentum as we'd done in the first half.
"It's a real kick in the teeth to come away with nothing and whilst Carlisle will be delighted with the result we are all devastated because it was a really good away performance."
