Hartlepool boss Danny Wilson
'Pools manager Danny Wilson spoke to BBC Radio Tees after the end-to-end 2-2 draw with Carlisle at Victoria Park on Tuesday night, Wilson suggesting that the Blues will up at the top end of the table come the finish of the season :

" I think it was just reward, I thought that we played very well, we're back at the tempo we like to play at. I thought that today we were unfortunate to go a goal behind really in the first 20-odd minutes because we were playing pretty well. We got the tempo up, we were getting at them and just one out of the blue unfortunately. They broke down the left and played a great ball across the box that was difficult to defend and they've put it in.

" It was totally against the run of play but after that we have showed great character to come back then. We've come back again at 2-1 and then pushing for the winner at the end. It was a pulsating game I have to say but from my point of view it was great to get back to the way we know we can play.

" It was a great atmosphere but I have to say again from what I said last week is that when the place is flat we find it difficult as well. So sometimes we need to draw on the fans to support and what-have-you to get us playing well. Tonight was fantastic, that's more like it, that was more like the Victoria Park that I know that's for sure. I can understand at times that they want things to go well before they can get going but it's difficult for the players.

" You are playing against eleven players who are good players against them and they're not going to slide down and let their bellies be tickled. We have to really forge a way and it might not be pretty football at times. It might just be hard endeavour and scrappy games but those are the type of games that you are going to get. We need the fans like they were tonight, they were fantastic.

" Both our goals came from very good balls into the box I have to say. A great cross from David Foley for the first one and the second one a great ball from Matty Robson, and that is the type of service those boys want you know. We keep encouraging them, we sometimes refuse that ball when it needs to go into the box early, we maybe have another touch or a pass. "

" This is what we are trying to encourage from the boys, you've got to get the ball into the box early. When you do that then your likes of Richard Barker in particular are going to attack them and that's where the majority of his goals have come from in his career.

" They (Carlisle) have a good start and they have got some good players in there, they've got some very quality players from higher divisions in there. It's not been thrown together, it's been well thought out and I think that in respect they are going to be up there at the end of the season. They've got great pace in the team that causes you problems, they've got good experience and they've got goalscorers.

" The two goalscorers have had one chance each them and scored them (ed - Danny Graham scored both goals). That's the difference when you go to a level higher, you can't afford to give chances away like we did. The first one was good play I have to say from them but we only look at ourselves and we thought that we could have done better with the stopping of the ball coming in.

" Then the second goal, again the ball has come in, we possibly could have stopped the cross and then it's gone in at the back-post when we thought that we should have been defending that better. So we look at ourselves and pick at little bits of our defending but overall, I mean they were good goals you have to say.

" Great character coming through from us though, from Saturday they could have quite easily thought they were beaten and felt sorry for themselves but they didn't. They rolled their sleeves up even more and they got at them and they were rewarded with a terrific goal, a lot of pressure at the end and we possibly might have nicked something else. The keeper has pulled off an unbelievable save from Michael Nelson at the end, I don't know how he punched it out of the top corner, so overall I'm fairly pleased. "
